Years ago, we received an ice cream freezer as a Christmas gift. We never used it because we discovered Breyers Natural Vanilla Ice Cream with real specks of vanilla bean .
It had everything in it that I would put in homemade vanilla and nothing more. It WAS perfect! However, Breyers has been on the decline for quite some time. Starting with their decrease of the half gallon to 1.5 qt size to the switch from REAL ice cream with just a few ingredients to the chemical concoctions known as Frozen Dairy Desserts (This they say was in response to customer preferences-Really Unilever?).
Now, the last vestiges of ice cream, Natural Vanilla, has hit a new low. Just scoop some out into a glass bowl and watch it for 90 seconds. The size of your scoop appears to diminish 1/3 to 1/2 right before your very eyes. Make the mistake of putting a topping on it or heaven forbid, stirring it a little and you will have 1/4 of what you scooped in mere seconds!
I kid you not! I think it's all air folks!
Very disappointing--Breyers no more! Taking out my ice cream freezer!
